Shetland - Day 1

We arrived on Shetland from the overnight ferry from Aberdeen to Lerwick. After having a cooked breakfast at their house, Alison and Richard took us to Muckle Roe, just a few minutes from their home. Breeze could have a blast on the beach after a long journey. It's a beautiful day and first impressions are that we are going to enjoy oursleves!

After Lunch we head North West, pausing along the way for wildlife opportunities

As Well as a chance to take in some of the more notorious views. This is supposed to look like a horse drinking!
Having arrived at Eshaness we do a clifftop walk - wildlife spotting as we go. The scenery is jaw dropping and needless to say, Breeze is on her lead!

Thrift is just coming into flower on the cliffs, another few weeks and it will be really spectacular
We spot a Shag
And one on a nest
And a pair of Shags
A really nice walk giving us a good introduction to the landscape and some of the wildlife we will encounter through the week. We head back to Richard and Alison's lovely home
Set in such a stunning location with a view right across the voe - and the Hotel just to the right when you fancy a drink!
