Martindale with Ed and Gerda

Our friends Ed and Gerda are over from Holland and we would like to take them to see the Red Deer rut in Martindale. We know we are a bit early, but this is our only opportunity before they go back.
As expected, the rut had not started yet, but a few hundred red deer grazing happily was still a magical sight

Winter has finally arrived - Happy New Year!

2016 hasn't got off to a very good start. Husband has been suffering with a bad cold since Christmas, but thank God he's had the Flu jab, on New Years Day, I went down with full blown, eyeball, eyelid, teeth and hair aching Flu with a chest infection thrown in for good measure. By about 10th Jan I hadn't stepped foot out of the house let alone ridden or walked anywhere. Looking on the positive, the weather's been crap so we haven't missed much. Just as I'm fit again and ready to get back to riding out, we get about 4" of snow. Breeze thinks that's OK!

Twisting and turning to catch the snowballs

After luch we head over to Caldbeck to get a haircut. Camera pictures, most of which were taken through the windscreen of a moving car (don't panic, I wasn't driving), but they sum up what a Winter Wonderland we are living in just now.

Popping into Keswick

It's not unusual for us to be in Keswick, but today I needed to go to the Theatre to hand in our 'Friends' New Season booking form so we can get the best seats! The visibility was so good I had to take the camera whilst we gave wandered down to Friar's Crag.

Keswick is still suffering from the recent flooding and it will be a long time before everything is back to normal.

Another Trip to the Dentist

Today Husband needs to go to the dentist for an xray but I don't have to go. I don't HAVE to go, but I do! After all Breeze needs a run and on a day like this why wouldn't I? I drop Husband nearly outside the dentists door while I drive through town and park at the Theatre By The Lake. I barely walk a mile, Breeze runs quite a few and in no time at all her Dad is back to throw her a stick or two.

Now remind me, why did we move?

A Trip To The Dentist

We frequently remind ourselves how lucky we are to live in the (in our opinion) most beautiful place in the country. Never do we feel it more than when we go to visit our dentist in Keswick. In our previous life, I would have been going to Newark and Husband Lincoln for a 6 monthly check up. I don't think either of us would have bothered to take the dog with us!

Silloth Sunset

Wednesday evenings are a regular get together for a whole bunch of us at one of our local pubs, but this week there are hardly any of us available so we decide to cancel it. We've had a plan for over 12 months to head over to SIlloth one night and watch the Sunset. As summer finally arrived today and we suddenly have an evening free, we seize the moment!

We sat on the sea front at Silloth at 8:30pm with our Fish and Chips, to watch the sun setting behind Criffel

Just as we sat down, the Silloth Inshore Lifeboat cam in from training

Amazing the effect of sunlight on the camera. This is taken at the same time, just looking away from the sun. What a beautiful evening to have finally got round to doing this. We sat here until the sun disappeared behind the cloud,

then hot foted it to our normal spot to give Breeze a run on the beech while we watched the rest of the suns display
